The winters at Himring are harsh, and The Lord of Himring is lonely
Himring Series: At the Gates
Another winter has come to the elven lands, and nowhere it is as cold as in the realm of Maedhros. Snow covers the dark stone of the castle walls, and wind howls, circling the towers, as vicious as a Morgoth's creature, and all the fires of a Fëanorian heart can hardly melt the ice.
Still, the denizens of Himring stand proud, ever watchful, guarding the lanŠ² and its people. Hear: a song rises in the frozen halls. Though brief is the warmth of company, though rare are the guests at the fortress, it triumphs over the windswept hills, cold iron and black stone, and blood red banners.
Amidst the winter, Himring still stands.
Author's note: Maedhros is my favourite character of The Legendarium, and I often find myself thinking of his fate, his valiant deeds and his tragic death. Thus, Himring is my favourite place to escape to in the vast world of Arda. I'm planning to do a series of ambients, focusing on different areas of the fortress at different times.
